SPIKE Ferrofluid Display
Ferrofluid is an iron-rich suspension fluid that becomes strongly magnetized in the presence of a magnetic field. It was originally invented in 1963 by NASA's Steve Papell as a liquid rocket fuel that could be drawn toward a pump inlet using magnets in zero gravity. And while it was never effective as rocket fuel, it does create an incredible art display.
SPIKE is a desktop ferrofluid display containing 7ml of ferrofluid and designed to showcase ferrofluid's coolest feature, giant spikes! It contains 2 magnets inside the base that create a large magnetic field when you place the handheld magnet on top, resulting in giant spikes and organic shapes. The ultimate executive desk toy, you can even use this handheld magnet to interact with the Ferrofluid and form beautiful spikes and geometric shapes of your own.

The glass is very thick and is hard to break, even with a drop of several feet. However, if it does break the contents are nontoxic and can be cleaned using soap and water. The ferrofluid is very messy though and will take lots of scrubbing.
