Ancient Islamic Agate Ring Seal // 8th-10th Century AD
Product Description
This Ancient Islamic Kufic Agate Ring Seal is inscribed with “Shaaker Ben Mohammad”. These ring seals were custom made for the individual owners, mostly people of high net worth and in important positions, with their names (first and last) and sometimes titles engraved in Kufic legends. These seals that were then placed in rings and used to mark or stamp official letters or documents. Because they were almost always placed in men's rings, they followed the same oval-shape design, but the type and color of the stone and the legend (name and titles) were different based on the owner's desires and preferences.
