Spanish copper "pirate" money. Excellent large copper 8-Maravedis coin struck by Philippe III of Spain, 1598-1626 AD. Lion within shield with crown, HISPANIARVM REX; date to right / Castle within shield with crown, PHILIPPVS III D G. Coin VF, with deep coppery tone, excellent detail. Holed in antiquity to be worn as jewelry.

Set into a stunning custom .925 silver bezel, this coin was found at the site of a late Medieval harbor in Spain where pirates were known to have gathered to plunder Spanish galleons for their riches.
